It was after interim critique, one of those tests that you are glad that its over (for architecture students), and everyone is hungry…..
We are definitely not eating canteen food, so we took a ride on the newly opened Circle Line to Thomson for dinner. We settled at E-Sarn Thai Cuisine for some Thai food.
It was near closing time but service remained professional, the maître d’ was friendly and the waiters refilled our glasses of water without prompting them.
Fortunately, the quality more than compensated for the quantity. It was good, in fact better than some of those I had in Thailand. It was moist, flavorful and the noodles were just right. With a squeeze of lime juice, it adds a pleasant citrus sourness to the noodles which accentuates the overall flavors.
And Mango Delight (7.50 SGD) , Thai glutinous rice with mango and coconut ice cream drizzled with condensed milk. A sweet but heavenly dessert, the mango was sweet and the mango sticky rice was nicely seasoned. Pity the coconut flavor was rather weak.
E-Sarn Thai also have branches at Pasir Panjang, Robertson Quay and Ridgewood. While we were there, the clientele was a mix of locals and Caucasians.
