8th February 2013.
Do you like buffets? I do not…..buffets are a thing of my JC, Sec Sch or army days, I think it is part and parcel of growing up. However, some of my schoolmates wanted hot pot to celebrate the Chinese New Year and we ended up in Chuan Yi Pin, located along North Bridge Road opposite Bugis Junction.
Chuan Yi Pin offers both hot plate and hot pot along with a rather decent variety of buffet items such a selection of hot dishes (mainly vegetables) and the essentials for a hot pot/ hot plate buffet such as marinated chicken, beef, pork, seafood and tofu etc.
Despite the abysmal rating on Hungry Go Where, I had a satisfactory experience at Chuan Yi Pin, the food here is basically your own doing and there are sauces and condiments for you to make your own dipping sauce.
One of the most memorable items available are the petite and tasty fried mantou. My biggest complaint is that the beef and pork were totally frozen, they aren’t thawed for you to cook.
Pricewise, we paid 23.80 SGD per pax for lunch due to CNY.
