Nyonya & Baba is a Peranakan restaurant located in VivoCity. Personally, VivoCity is not the kind place I like to have a meal apart from Tajimaya's lunch sets because not-so wallet friendly and I kind of find the food there subpar at best.
Nonetheless, it’s a family day and we decided to take it easy and my sister was attracted to Nyonya & Baba and we decided to have a light lunch there. It wasn’t cheap as I expected and for 3 dishes and rice, it was about 75-80 for 4 pax.
Thankfully the food was not bad (still pricey). The achar was sweet and nutty and very addictive (not complimentary – 3.00 SGD) and it came with prawn crackers along with some very spicy belachan.
The classic Ayam Buah Keluak was flavourful but the chicken’s texture could have been more tender.
The Sambal Fish is just grilled fish with sambal sauce on it. The fish was grilled nicely, not overdone and the texture was just right. The sambal sauce was surprisingly not spicy with a hint of sweetness.
