Thai for Dinner : Na Na or Nana?

Golden Mile Complex

21st May 2013.
Golden Mile Complex is a rather interesting place to visit. They have a Thai supermarket upstairs with all kinds of Thai instant mee and condiments. Downstairs, the mall reminds me of Bangkok with food stalls selling takeaway curries, snacks and sweets including the ever-popular Mango Sticky Rice.

I was drawn to Golden Mile Complex for a meal when one of my friend was saying that his Thai friends proclaimed Golden Mile Complex as the place to go to for the best Thai food……and that is how we ended up at Na Na Original Thai Food, one of the quieter Thai restaurants undisturbed by the loud karaoke music that resonate in every corner of the mall.

Na Na Thai Restaurant - Pad Thai

I ordered one of my favourite Thai dishes (boring it may be), the Phad Thai (5.00 SGD). It is slightly spicier than the average phad thais you find outside but it was good. It was flavourful and hearty. With a dash of lime juice, it was delicious and tasted like the ones I had in Phuket or Bangkok. You could add in other condiments such as sugar, chili flakes and crushed peanuts if you prefer.

We also tried the Pork Omelette (8.00 SGD), a simple looking but beautifully cooked omelette mixed with minced pork with crispy, browned edges. It was rather addictive.

Nana Thai Restaurant (Far East Plaza) - Thai Fried Rice

Nana Thai Restaurant (Far East Plaza)
19th May 2013.
Seems like these few days, I have been eating quite a lot of Thai food, just a few days ago, I was at another restaurant of the same name at Far East Plaza where I had the Thai Fried Rice (5-6 SGD)

I understand why an OpenRice reviewer called the food here “unauthentic”, it is the ThaiPan kind of Thai food here. Nonetheless, I am happy with my “Thai Fried Rice” which is more like Salted Fish Fried Rice served with braised chicken. Not bad.

On the topic of Thai food, remember there also the Spicy Thai Buffet going on at the Line, Shangri-La Singapore.
