Hong Kong, China
Included in our Explore package was an afternoon tea buffet at Café, one of Hyatt Regency Sha Tin’s in-house restaurants. The buffet spread was markedly more varied than the breakfast buffet and looks appetizing too.
Despite the name high tea, we were not being served any tea until we enquired about it.
The must have items for an afternoon tea : scones. Hyatt Regency Sha Tin was only so-so. It lacked the crumbly crust with fluffy, chewy interior I looking for.
The sushi did not left any impression.
Decent noodles with shaved lettuce.
The dimsum items were decent too.
The hot items include spicy Buffalo wings, boring bland vegetables and yakitori sticks that seemed to be heat up in a microwave.
Ice Cream made our day though. Add some shaved milk chocolate and marshmallows and viola! Decadent and enjoyable dessert!
Brownie was dry and hard.
Fruit Salad was too sour again.
Fried Rice, quite okay actually. Had a decent amount of flavour and rice wasn’t clumpy or too dry.
Overall, the afternoon tea at Hyatt Regency was average and it is quite a nice place to chill out with your friends. However, the food left little impression for me and I don’t think it is one that I would come back specially for.
