Breakfast is one thing I really look forward to when I get to stay at a hotel, a bed and breakfast or inn. It is the starting meal of the day and for
Hyatt Regency Sha Tin, I have high expectation for this 5 star establishment.
Apparently, the Hyatt Regency Shatin gets their honey from a local apiary near the Ten Thousand Buddhas Monastery, it was used for their signature Sha”Tin” Apple Pie too.
There is a festive mood at the Café, one of the two in-house restaurants at the Hyatt Regency Shatin and some breakfast items are related to Christmas.
The scrambled eggs lacked fragrance and came across as bland and quite overcooked, the sides for tomatoes and mushrooms were rather tasteless too.
The fruit salad was excruciatingly sour for some reason.
The pancakes however were a delight with maple syrup drizzled over them and topped with a bit of butter.
If you want an Asian breakfast, there was porridge and grilled salmon for Japanese style breakfast.
Overall, the food was mediocre and the variety rather than quality takes priority here.
One odd thing I don’t understand is why we were required to sign a bill even though breakfast was included in the package. I just feel uneasy because you won’t know whether you would be charged for the second time for it and this is the first time I encounter such a requirement in a hotel and the sullen faces the waitress and manager (and bad weather) really doesn’t help.
For our experience at the hotel, you can read it up
here in our travel section.
