Ayutthaya, Thailand : Sai Thong River Restaurant

Sai Thong - A Spread

Ayutthaya, Thailand
The Sai Thong River Restaurant is located near the junction of Cheekuan Road and Uthong Road, next to the Chao Phraya River, providing awesome river views once again like Baan Khun Pra. And, like Baan Khun Pra, this is also recommended by Lonely Planet.

Sai Thong - Fried Fish

The restaurant specialized in seafood and there are only a few vegetables and non-seafood dishes available. Compared to Singapore, the crabs and prawns are really cheap here, prices for prawn and crab dishes are around 120-150 THB (about 6-7 SGD).

Food tends to be generally sweet but tasty. The Tom Yum Goong was hearty and flavorsome with the rich pitch of sourness and spiciness that can be adjusted to your preference, just tell the waiters and waitresses when taking your orders or make use of the platter of condiments they provide.

Desserts are limited to some cakes at the chiller and fruits. They have this “Canned Longans” for 80THB, it is not some funny, unique name for a dish but rather, literally a can of Longans which my friend ordered.

The Lemon Juice which they called “Spining Lemon” is really sour. My tutor added the longans my friend ordered in order to finish it.

This is not one of the cheapest places to dine in Ayutthaya, even though it is very cheap compared to Singapore. However, if you don’t mind spending a bit more for the view and a seafood feast, it is a decent choice.
