Duxton and Ann Siang area offers a lot of options when it comes to looking for a place for light bites as you go about doing homework or studies. Whether if you are into the sweet stuff or something more subtle, there is always something for you around Duxton and Ann Siang area.
For sweets, this bakery doesn’t need any further introduction. Flor Patisserie has been churning out delicious cakes even before we encounter it. This time round, Wei Xiang and I decided to have something different, we had the Mango Pie and a new drink called the Ice Flower Tea which Flor brew from a mixture of hibiscus flower, hawthorn and chrysanthemum. It is supposed to be good for digestion as well. The drink resembled rose water and has an acquired taste that gives me a tickling sensation in my throat. Nonetheless, it was a great thirst quencher. The drink is priced at 4.00 SGD, I had it with the hi-tea set at 9.00 SGD.
The Mango Pie was slightly underwhelming, the mango was sour rather than sweet. It pales in comparison to the Waguri Millefeuille or the Napoleon. Having sat through half a day of business at Flor, the Waguri Millefeuille, Napoleon and Berry Berries are very popular along with their chiffon, you have Japanese, photography enthusiasts, weekend NSFs, couples, your kopi-shop uncles and aunties and families, well-to-do ladies, teenagers....its a amazing how people from all walks of life descend upon this tiny bakery at Duxton.

Next stop, for something more subtle, its Restore. This unique café not only serves food but also sells furniture that has been given a new life (and a heavier price tag). The décor is pleasant and reminds you of a home kitchen where your mom would prepare breakfast behind the kitchen counter.
We went for something simple, bagels.
I have no idea how real bagels taste like, but I found myself devouring every bit of this warm, chewy, cinnamon-fragrant bagel. It would probably go well with a sweet condiment instead of cream cheese. But, it’s a personal preference. These freshly baked Cinnamon-Raisin Bagels goes for 5.50+ SGD
