28th February 2011. Written by Xin Li.
It was a special day, and to celebrate, I decided to visit my favorite restaurant for a dinner treat.
I had a bowl of the Daily Soup, which was a Mushroom Soup (6.50 SGD) served with Garlic Bread. The soup was rather fluid and it has generous chunks of mushrooms as well as crunchy celery bits. The soup was tasty on its own without any further seasoning.
For main course, I had the Black Sheep Shank (22.50 SGD), a rather sinful but delicious dish. I just love how the tender meat comes off easily from the bone and pairs almost perfectly with the potato mash and tasty red wine sauce. The vegetables and potato mash did a good job in creating more variations in texture and flavors for this dish.
“690 friends”, only a handful remembered and I thought I would be alone at the dining table on my 23rd birthday/5.75th birthday. Thankfully, Chef Ratha was there to chat with me.
I think it isn’t appropriate to divulge too much about the conversation but I must admit that Chef Ratha is indeed a very interesting and passionate chef who has come a long way.
