I had a pleasant memory of their Baby Back Ribs with Andre and Catheleen before, so I decided to recommend District 10 Wine and Bar to my mum for dinner, hoping to find her a better alternative to the St.Louis Ribs at Café Cartel.
We had a Roasted Baby Back Ribs with Smoky Barbeque Sauce (28.00++ SGD), shared among my dad and mum. While my dad and I enjoyed the tenderness and the flavor of the dish. My mum was not impressed at all, she felt that the portion was too small and the baby ribs have a hint of gamey pork flavor.
I always wanted to try the Beer Battered Fish and Chips (22.00++ SGD) from District 10, one of their signature dishes. The garden mint mushy peas is a much welcomed break from the usual coleslaw. However, I did not find the fish and chip to be impressive. The batter was ordinary and the flesh was too soft, overpowered by the batter itself. For fish and chips, I still prefer the one at Bistro@Changi or even Manhattan Fish Market or Fish and Co.
The Wagyu Italian Meat Ball Pizza (24.00++ SGD) was the best main dish we had for dinner. A thin crusted pizza with a right balance of cheese and tomato paste, the wagyu meatball was very tender soft and evenly minced and seasoned. It reminded my dad of the days when IKEA meatballs were good.
To finish the dinner, I recommended my favourite Crème Brule with Bourbon vanilla and rum (10.00++ SGD). Fortunately, it did not disappoint again, fragrant creamy yummy crème brule impressed my dad and mum. Like previous visits, the caramelized crust was just right and it wasn’t too sweet or heavy on the palate.
Overall, I wasn't impressed by the fish and chips but the other dishes are quite nice especially my favourite creme brule. Despite so, I find the price considerably steep.
