9th June 2013.
Located at Far East Square, the Intrepid Gastro Bar is a quiet little hideout on a weekend as most of the shops and F&B outlets around the area close early. Initially I wanted to have a light meal at the Rotisserie but it was closed. So I headed to Intrepid Gastro Bar, drawn to its brunch offerings.
I had the
Mr. Benedict (14.50+ SGD), a single poached egg with prosciutto ham on potato rosti and hollandaise served with OJ and fruit salsa. It was lightly torched before being served with some cut fruits and a glass of orange juice.
It was not bad at all. There was the savoury and lightly cooked prosciutto, tasty potato rosti, a rather mild and tangy hollandaise sauce. These were fused together with the warm, molten egg yolk which poured out from its firm egg white like molten gold makes it an awesome first meal of the day.
For something sweet, I also ordered the
Warm Banana Cake (6.00+ SGD),
chocolate fillings with butterscotch syrup. It came with a heap of whipped cream to my disgust but the whole thing did work for us….in an indulgent way. I personally though the cake was on the dry side and the texture was a little rough, but it was remedied with the sweet butterscotch syrup and slices of banana.
