Coffee and Tea Moments

tcc - Niece and Nephew

Our family went to tcc for afternoon tea for Mothers’ Day for its affordable high tea set that came with some light bites, scones and coffee or tea.

tcc - Afternoon Tea

For the month of May, the afternoon tea set features 2 different kinds of scones: chocolate and sultana, both of them were served warm and pretty decent. The chocolate scone was expectedly moist as usual.

There were also sweets and savoury items such as scallop with salsa and chicken wraps. However, the best part of the whole afternoon tea affair is probably the rare opportunity to take things slowly and just enjoy the company we had.

Chokeful of Beans - Cappuccino

15th May 2013.
Chock Full Of Beans
Yesterday, I went back to Tekong again for some work with a couple of friends including Mu Yao. During this visit, I saw the huge rock that the recruits and commanders dug up in 2009. The inscriptions may have faded but the rock has remained there for four years relatively unchanged after series of field camps, rain and shine…. I just realized how much the people around me and probably I myself have changed since.

After which, we planned to have lunch at Ipoh Café but unfortunately it was closed on Tuesdays. We had dim sum at the opposite Le Xuan Dim Sum instead, snacking on their yummy custard buns and dim sum classics like siew mai and har gaw before spending the afternoon at a quaint little café called Chock Full of Beans.

Chokeful of Beans - Cappuccino

Mu Yao had a Double Espresso while I had a cup of soothing Cappuccino to keep me awake (I haven’t slept last night). While Mu Yao wasn’t quite satisfied with his double espresso, I was happy with my cappuccino, the coffee was just right and the foam art was nothing less than beautiful. I think kawaii cats just make people happy (and the good coffee was there to back it up). We had an enjoyable conversation about press freedom, life, work, culture and food…what a rare treat.
