Tze Char at Hong Kong Street Chun Kee

Alexandra Village Food Centre

29th March 2013.
This is an overdue post, please accept my apologies for the lack of details. However, I would still like to share a rather pleasant makan experience at the Alexandra Village Food Centre I had in March this year.

Alexandra Village Food Centre - Old Punggol Satay

It was a tze char meal at Hong Kong Street Chun Kee (香港街珍記) but we also got some Satay from the Old Punggol Satay at the Alexandra Village Food Centre and it was delicious, the sauce was great and the satay was just right with the lightly charred bits.

Alexandra Village Food Centre - Assam Sting Ray

As for the tze-char meal, one of the dishes I remembered fondly was a special Sting Ray dish served in mildly spicy, tangy and sour gravy, it was an accidental order as we were thinking of the usual sambal grilled Sting Ray but this turned out to be a pleasant surprise. It was different in a good way and the gravy was so so so good. The sting ray itself was cooked perfectly too.

Alexandra Village Food Centre - French Beans

We also had the usual classics like French Beans and their signature tofu dish. I wasn’t quite impressed by the Crispy Fried Tofu (酥炸豆腐) though. It is just fried tofu with vegetable bits in it served with Thai Sweet Chili Sauce.

Since it was a family affair, we also ordered a Seafood Pot (partly because it has sea cucumber in it, my dad’s favourite).
