Hong Kong, China.
If you do a bit of research for a meal in Tsim Sha Tsui there are nice little cafes that offers a really affordable set meal even during dinner time. Hidden in the midst of old looking shophouses along Ashley Road, we stumbled upon a cosy Mediterranean themed café named ECF Cafe on the upper floor of a shophouse.
The 2-course set meal came with a choice of soup or salad together with the main course.
It is not the bustling cha chaan teng or noodle restaurant you would associate with Hong Kong but a really quiet café perfect for chilling out or having a chat with your friends. The service was great too.
The
Chicken Salad was a mixture of crunchy, fresh lettuce leaves with shredded carrots, chicken chunks and a creamy dressing. It was rather tasty. The other option is a bowl of
Pumpkin Soup.
For mains, I had the
Mixed Seafood Pasta which came with generous servings of prawns, mussels and grilled fish. It wasn’t impressive but well done nonetheless. The pasta was nicely cooked and the seafood itself was decent, not overcooked or has any fishy aftertaste.
My main complaint is that the seafood pasta lacked the aroma or a wholesome seafood flavour I would expect from a seafood pasta. The sauce was just normal gravy to me.
I also got a complimentary drink of my choice thanks to the coupon I got outside their café. It was a Ice Green Tea infused with either peach or mango flavour, a fruity and soothing drink.
The whole meal cost me about 108 HKD.
