Thai Pan is located within Mandarin Gardens and just a short walk away from Victoria Junior College and Victoria School. Highly recommended by Mu Yao for its affordability and Pad Thai, we decided to have lunch there on a Saturday morning.
Despite so, the place was rather packed even on weekends and the rain doesn’t seem to deter a steady flow of customers to the “Thai” restaurant. The menu is more tze-char than Thai as the only recognizable Thai items are probably “Thai Coconut” and “Phad Thai”.
Nonetheless, it was a good meal. The
Butter Squid (8.00 SGD, S) was very addictive, the squid was succulent and the ‘gravy’ was packed full of buttery fragrance with a hint of spiciness.
We also had the
Thaipan Jade Tofu with Fresh Mango (8.00 SGD, S), nicely cooked bean curd topped with sweet mango slices and mango syrup. A little too sweet but still decent, if you have a sweet tooth, you will definitely enjoy this. It feels like a dessert dish to me.
Last but not least, the star of the day is the
Phad Thai (9.00 SGD, M). It was very nicely executed. I enjoyed that smoky fragrance infused within this hearty, flavourful wok fried noodles.
