Nara, Japan
Breakfast can’t get any better than this. Imagine waking up to a warm breakfast of eggs and toast with a fragrant cup of tea. Simply heavenly compared to the dire conditions of varsity life in AKI.
On top of that there were numerous cafes in Japan that serve such pleasant breakfast in Nara, Kyoto and Osaka. We had our breakfast at Kohikan, a café located along the lively Sanjo-Dori.
I had a Breakfast with Egg, Ham, Toast, Salad and a Cup of English Breakfast Tea for 460 Yen. While it may not be Michelin starred quality, it was a good breakfast. How I hope I am able to have such breakfast every day.
The salad has crunchy greens with kernels of corn and mini cubes of tomatoes and dressed with a tangy dressing. The toast was thick and fluffy, egg and ham were decent.
And we finish it off with a pleasant cup of English Breakfast Tea.
Since it is the apple season, I also had the seasonal special. It was Hotcake with Caramelized Apples served with Vanilla Ice Cream and Whipped Cream drizzled with maple syrup. It was a satisfying dessert. The fluffy hot cake with sugar icing paired very well with the sweet caramelized apples and ice cream. I enjoyed the subtle fragrance of cinnamon in the hotcake and the caramelized apples.
