I'm in Heaven @ TAB

TAB - All That Jazz

7th February 2011. Written by Xin Li.
Glenn was leaving for Australia the next day and when I found out that he hasn’t been to TAB, I decided to bring him there before he leave for the Down Under. My first encounter with TAB was through a food tasting session and I wasn’t too sure if it would be as good as it was but fortunately the food was consistent and the burger had some improvements, it wasn’t as soggy as I remembered.

TAB - All That Jazz

We had the opportunity to watch the performance by the Summertimes Big Band that night under the All That Jazz! theme. (20.00 SGD Cover Charge with 1 Standard Drink). The Summertimes Big Band is Singapore’s foremost jazz ensemble and it was formed in 2009 by a group of 18 long time musician friends. You can still catch their performance every Monday evening at TAB and there are free swing dance lessons by the happysexypassionatecool folks at Jitterbugs Singapore, starting from 1930 hours. (Take note of the cover charge)

It was a performance a gladly paid for not only because the music was good, but it was also because the theme for the night was Big Band featuring music such as Irving Berlin’s Cheek to Cheek (first performed by Fred Astaire) and In the Mood (Composed by Joe Garland & Andy Razaf and arranged by Glenn Miller). For that night, “I am in heaven…”

TAB - Ginger Ale

I had a Ginger Ale for my beverage and ordered the Fish & Chips (Beer-battered Dory fillet with homemade fries and a curry mayo dip, 16.00++ SGD). The food did not disappoint, the fish and chips had a pleasant aroma and the flesh was tender. The fries were very good, nicely seasoned.

Glenn had the TAB Burger.

TAB - Fish & Chips

I am glad TAB had been keeping up with their standards on food and their promise to promote rising talents evident in their calendar of events, the regular performance by the Summertimes Big Band is one such example. I will definitely visit TAB again in the future with my friends. The place wasn’t too crowded too and yet it was very lively. I had a great time enjoying the Big Band music and watching those enthusiastic patrons dancing to the music.
