Initially, we wanted to have brunch/breakfast at Vanilla Café and Bar but pity it was closed on Saturday contrary to what the operating hours states. Note to take: Remember to make reservation beforehand.
We wandered around the area a bit and ended up at Shots, located at the junction between Ann Siang Hill Street and Club Street.
The interior of Shots is kept simple and it has a gallery feel as the emphasis is on the exhibited photographs and the food itself. Walls were kept plain except for the wooden footer at the bottom. As one would expect, photographs (photographic shots) were being exhibited on these gallery walls.
As you admire these stunning photograph masterpieces, you can sip on some fragrant, freshly-brewed coffee (caffeine shots etc.) and nibble on some light sandwiches or snacks prepared by the in house café.
Breakfast items were priced below 10 dollars. You may top up one dollar to upgrade your breakfast order to set which includes a cup of HOT gourmet coffee including Latte, Americano, Mocha etc. Cold beverages are not part of the set.
Vinleon had a Peanut Butter Set (with coffee) for $5.80. The bread is quite good, warm and fluffy with a bit of nutty flavor. The peanut butter with bread never tasted so good.
I had the Croissant with Ham and Cheese (5.80 SGD) and an ala carte order of Cold Café Mocha (6.20 SGD). The croissant is so good, it reminded my of the bread in Thai Airways except better, this one has a really nice buttery fragrance and retains its crispiness even when it starts to get cold. The ham and cheese combination never goes wrong and it only gets better with the warm, crispy croissant.
The Cold Café Mocha (6.20 SGD) is quite expensive. After drinking it, I thought while it was steeply priced, the quality definitely deserves it. It was quite smooth, not too heavy or sweet yet very fragrant with a pleasant bittersweet tone. This cup of ice mocha is much better than the one I had at 1Caramel.
While the coffees here might not look as great as Oriole Café and Bar’s,the coffee are nonetheless competent. It is also a nice place to relax and admire the photographs and read some magazines if you are looking for somewhere to kill time or chill out around Ann Siang Hill but prepare to fork out a bit more for the experience and wait for quite some time.
As an added bonus, the café does not charge service charge. Only 7% GST is being charged here.
