Ah Teng Bakery is located in the prestigious Raffles Hotel (not Fairmont). Spotting a colonial era style interior with a nostalgic kopitiam atmosphere, I found Ah Bakery extremely charming.
They offer three kinds of sets during the late afternoons, priced around $10-$11 nett. There was the Scone and Tea/Coffee Set ($10), Muffin and Tea/Coffee Set ($10) and a Cake & Tea/Coffee Set ($11). Their scones were rather big.
I had the Banana Chocolate Bar and English Breakfast Tea (11.00 SGD). The English Breakfast Tea is a TWG’s. The Banana Chocolate Cake was decent, it has chunky bits of banana embedded in it and there was a layer of bitter-sweet chocolate on top and layers of sponge and mousse underneath.
This is not the light cakes you get from Kki, it is firmer and the taste is slightly richer. It was enjoyable when paired with the tea, they seemed to complement each other.
