A Sutra Not to be Missed!

Spice Sutra - Detail

7th July 2011. Written by Xin Li.
Why look so far for good Indian food when it’s just nearby. Despite being around for a number of years, I have never tried Spice Sutra until this month.

Spice Sutra - Interior

The service was very good and the staff were very friendly. Furthermore, Spice Sutra offers a variety of discounts such as a 20% discount for students and it is also listed in MakanDeals.com! They even had a buffet offer.

Spice Sutra - Table

Using the voucher from MakanDeals, we took the opportunity to have some Indian food at Spice Sutra to celebrate the end of a National Service ordeal that my friend has been through over the past few months.

Spice Sutra - Tandoori Chicken (Half)

We had half a Tandoori Chicken (11.00+ SGD) which is quite nicely seasoned and reasonably tender.

Spice Sutra - Sultana Pulau

The Sultana Pulau (6.90+ SGD) is basmati rice flavoured with saffron and mixed with sultanas. I enjoyed this.

Spice Sutra - Butter Chicken

The Butter Chicken (15.90+ SGD) is a robust and hearty stew like dish that serves a perfect complement as dips for the naans.

Spice Sutra - Garlic Naan

We tried 3 types of Naans, namely, the Plain (3.00+ SGD), Garlic, (3.90+ SGD) and the Butter (3.50+ SGD).

Spice Sutra - Plain Naan

Each naan order is a trio which is perfect for the 3 of us to share. Generally the naans were quite good, it was done just nice. It was crispy without being too hard like a biscuit and goes very well with the butter chicken.

Spice Sutra - Kulfi

We completed the meal with an original Kulfi (4.90+ SGD), Indian-style ice cream. It tasted and looked very different from the one I had at Banana Leaf in Little India. Interesting, milky flavor but I didn’t enjoy those colourful bits with my kulfi.

We used our $10 for $25 dollar voucher from MakanDeals (requires a minimum spending of 50.00 SGD) and the bill came up to 30.00 SGD for the 3 of us.
