Tokyo Deli Café located on the ground floor of Raffles City. Opened by Japan Food Holdings, which also manages Boteyju, Ajisen, Let's Sweets and Fruit Paradise, Tokyo Deli Cafe serves cakes and café snacks like salads and antipasti with drinks. We had the Afternoon Tea Set which cost 9.80++ SGD.
The Afternoon Tea Set consists of a choice of tea/coffee, a choice of panna cotta and chiffon cakes. We opted for tea and the Mango Panna Cotta. The tea wasn’t the usual red tea or English Breakfast Tea but rather a kind of spiced tea.
I am pleasantly surprised by the chiffon cake. The chocolate chiffon cake was like a rich brownie while the original chiffon cake was quite light with a pleasant buttery flavor. Both paired very well with the whipped cream, fruits, berry compote and sauces that made it more interesting to eat.
The Mango Panna Cotta came with some slices of sweet and sour mango. The panna cotta itself was quite firm and the texture is similar to a bean curd. It wasn’t too sweet and has a milky flavor. The slices of sweet and sour mango break the monotonous flavor of the panna cotta. The panna cotta also comes in other flavors such as Strawberries.
All in all, Tokyo Deli Café was better than I thought and it was a nice place to relax around City Hall area. Service wise, the waitresses were quite friendly, however I realized they did not serve us water while the other diners were being served water. There are other promotions going on such as a Tea and Cake Set or Deli Set (13.80++ SGD for 4 appetizers) as well as a lunch option.
