I went to look for a birthday venue with Aw Yong the other day and we decided to have a cheap lunch before starting the search. Finding food at OUB Centre and Republic Plaza Basement too expensive, we headed to Market Street Kou Fu. This food court is so well-concealed and most of the stalls were closed when we arrived around 7 pm.
It was pleasantly decorated with old coffee shop charm and facades of shop houses to evoke a feeling of nostalgia for the early 20th century Singapore.
I had the Shredded Chicken Mushroom Noodles for 3.50 SGD from this stall called the Noodle King. It was quite okay except that it doesn’t come with any mushrooms. Perhaps the sauce was infused with it. If it was the mushroom taste was quite mild. Presentation wise there is nothing much to talk about but the noodles was quite okay, I like the wanton which has a thin crispy skin that holds a lot of meat inside. The soup was flavorful too.
