Went down to Din Tai Fung on Sunday to celebrate my mum's birthday. She was pining for some xiaolongbaos.

AMBIENCE : 6/10

Far Eastern style. Quite noisy. The place is crowded most of the time. At peak hours, you might even have a long queue.

FOOD: 6/10

HALAL : NO
Serves Pork.

The menu has a decent amount of items to choose from.

1. Steam Chicken Soup - $8.80: 2.5/5
While my mum enjoyed this soup, I don't quite like it. I found it abit too strong to taste and the chicken was abit tough.

2. Xiao Long Bao (6 Pcs) - $6.30: 4/5
The xiao long bao here is their main feature. Personally, I enjoyed the xiao long baos. The feeling of soup pouring out of this tiny pastry is an enjoyable experience. The soup was nice and I enjoy the texture of the xiao long bao's pastry, it was smooth yet it does not break easily.

3. Fried Rice with Eggs - $6.50: 2.5/5
The fried rice was rather fragrant but it was too oily.

4. Zha Jiang Mian - $7.00: 3/5
The Zha Jiang Mian was quite okay. The sauce is alright for me. However, I had much better Zha Jiang Mian at Mayim for $6.30.

2. Red Date and Longan Drink - $2.80: 3/5
The drink is quite refreshing, my mum enjoyed it.

SERVICE : 7/10
The service is quite okay, they were quick to clear the plates and top up the tea. Their mannerism is oaky too, friendly and approachable.

VALUE: 6/10
GST: YES
SERVICE CHARGE: YES
The food portion is just nice, but I find some of the items abit pricey.

OVERALL : 6.5/10
The xiao long bao is a must try. The soup and noodle ain't that good.
The place is suitable for :
- Dinner
- Lunch
- Large Gathering

Xin Li Felt So-so at the end of his meal
and would probably visit the place again.
