Western singers, a bar like setting isn’t want you would associate with a Japanese restaurant but Ishikawa Restaurant is what that is, a contemporary chic restaurant (not very successful in design terms, to be critical).
The restaurant offers all kinds of set meals around 13-20+ range. My colleague had the Sake and Tempura Set (16.00+ SGD) and I had the Ishikawa Special Maki (12.00+ SGD)
The set meal is rather sumptuous with rice, miso soup, fruits, an appetizer, grilled salmon and assorted tempura. The tempura was rather nice with a crispy exterior and succulent interior. The grilled salmon is decent too.
My favourite has got to be the Ishikawa Special Maki (12.00+ SGD) which is a maki style made up of cucumber, tako tempura, and cucumber then wrapped with sweet and sour mango slices and topped with roe and Japanese mayo. The end result is a sweet, crunchy and tangy sushi. Delicious!
