Let's take a break from Belgrade and come to this eatery at the Japan Food Town in Wisma Atria.
Bonta Bonta is one of the several Japanese eateries here that does rice bowls, onigiri etc. The use of Kinmemai Rice is their pride. Kinmemai Rice is touted as a variant of Japanese rice produced through a patented process that is highly nutritious and even taste better than average rice because it has a mild butter and nutty flavour as well as having a good texture.
That aside, my friend and I were drawn the rather affordable kaisen-don or seafood bowls at Bonta Bonta. I had it the last time in a Isetan Fair at Suntec Convention Centre just a couple of weeks ago.
Until 31st of March, the seafood bowls are served with a 20% discount (thus about nett price)
We had the Bonta Special Donmaru Set (17.00++ SGD), which comes with toppings of negi-toro, sliced tuna, ikura (salmon roe), ika (squid) and uni (sea urchin). This was amazingly good at an affordable price.
The rice was served warm, the seafood was tasty with distinct textures and flavours and even the wasabi packs a punch and has a kind of fragrance. All these elements came together in a colourful and delicious way. You could also enjoy it with the dashi stock which provides a different kind of experience of having the seafood bowl.
