Wildfire Kitchen + Bar is located within a beautiful 1950s building that once served as the hostel for female students of Raffles College at Bukit Timah. This restaurant is known for their burgers and craft beers.
Eggstarter, the Ultimate Breakfast Burger | Excellent.
We started off with the Eggstarter, the Ultimate Breakfast Burger (15.00++ SGD). It has Kurobuta Toulouse Sausage Patty, Scrambled Eggs, Sharp Cheddar, Beer Caramelized Onions, Sriracha Mayo sandwiched between two brioche buns. This was just excellent. The patty was juicy, tender and packed with flavours. The scrambled egg was done right and the addition of the spicy sriracha mayo as well as sweet caramelized onions made this a memorable burger breakfast for me. The hash browns as sides are just plain odd though.
The Works | Unsatisfactory.
The Works, and supposedly one of their signatures however, was a let-down. It was packed with parmesan crisps, guacamole, fried egg etc with a generous portion of beef patty. The fundamental of a good burger just isn’t there, the patty was crumbly and the flesh has dried out and was overdone. We hope the condiments would help offset this flaw but the multitude of ingredients and textures just ended up as a mess of flavours and textures that don’t quite come together. In our opinion, it is a burger that aspired to do too much but failed to deliver or it could be just an isolated case of a badly served burger on that busy morning.
At the end of the day, it was the Eggstarter that left a really good memory and easily one of my favourite burgers and I would consider just coming for the Eggstarter, it was simple but so well-executed.
Unami Fries | Unmemorable.
Nicely cooked fries with seasoning that resembles cajun + seaweed.
