8th June 2014.
District 10 Bistro Bar and Tapas has been around at Star
Vista for a while. On a weekend, it seemed like a nice place to bring your
family for brunch as they have a playground to entertain the kids while you
relax with a proper breakfast. Located on the quieter side of Star Vista, away from the atrium, District 10 Bistro Bar and Tapas offer a relatively quiet environment as well for meals and in the occasion of my visit: a peaceful brunch.
We started off with their signature District 10 Eggs
Benedict (16.00++ SGD), Poached Eggs on Toasted Muffin with Sautéed Spinach,
Smoked Salmon and Hollandaise Sauce. I like how the smoked salmon, spinach and
poached eggs balance out each other and flavours-wise this was quite decent.
The eggs are done right too. I normally thought Eggs Benedict are quite heavy
due to the creaminess from the hollandaise sauce, but District 10’s rendition
was quite light.
We also had another egg dish, the Spanish Omelette (14.00++
SGD) with bell peppers, mushrooms and chorizo. It came with a salad and hash
brown as sides. The egg itself was slightly creamy in the inside with spiciness
from the chorizo and crunchy bits of bell peppers. Not bad.
Lastly, as part of the legacy of District 10, we must try one
of their pizzas. We had the classic Pizza Margherita, which was pretty good.
The crust was thin and crispy with tangy tomato sauce and yummy chunks of mozzarella.
Overall, I thought the brunch was alright, a few minor
tweaks to the presentation and some of the food items will go a long way. As it
is a brunch, I think one of the areas that District 10 Tapas and Bar should
really take a look at is their beverages to complement the food like freshly
squeezed juices.
