21st February 2014.
I visit Sunshine Plaza frequently to do printing and in the
past I have been to Bespoke Teng Vegetarian Restaurant, Gold Food Thai
Restaurant, Victor’s Kitchen and Parklane Wanton Mee but there is a café that I
often walked past and told me myself to try it someday. Alas, the first time I
had my meal there, my camera was sent for servicing.
It was an enjoyable meal the last time so this time round I
am back again with my camera. Located next to a model-making shop filled with
Tamiya products, Sneakery Café is a no-frills, unpretentious café serving
affordable food that seemed popular with both students and the working crowd. I
particularly enjoyed their very competitively priced Vietnamese Coffee with
mocha like flavours at only (2.50 SGD), or you could opt for the more popular
Thai Iced Milk Tea which isn’t too sweet.
I am also fond of their Smoked Duck Noodles with Special
Sauce and Sesame Oil (5.50 SGD), a very savoury noodle dish topped with tender slices of
smoked duck. The accompanying chilli sauce is quite potent but it would not be
a wholesome experience without the fragrant, spicy chilli sauce being mixed
into the noodles.
Next time, I would like to try their Tom Yum Noodles which I
have heard so much about from the other diners and walk-in customers who ta bao
their food from this small little café.
