I have been eyeing Bespoke Japanese Vegetarian Dining for a meal ever since I last saw it months ago. Then one day while I was out printing at Sunshine Plaza and the skies don’t look too good, I decided to head to Bespoke for dinner thinking that I could have dinner while it rained outside.
As its name suggest, the food here is vegetarian and the cuisine is Japanese which recognizable items like Japanese style hot pot, sushi etc on offer. I had the Buta Shoga Set (15.95 SGD after taxes) which include a bowl of rice, miso soup, salad, appetizer, main course and a dessert. It was quite sumptuous.
The salad was a White Radish with Seaweed and Sesame Salad with Wafu Dressing of some sort but it was too sour for my liking. I like that they use white radish instead of the usual greens though.
For the main course, the Buta Shoga is actually Mock Pork Belly. I enjoyed Teng's version more than Eight Treasures’ take of the pork belly. Teng’s version is chunkier and more ‘meaty’ which is actually konnyaku and tofu skin. The ‘pork belly’ is then stir-fried with a mildly peppery ginger sauce with mixed vegetables. I enjoyed this lot with the rice.
