Curry on!

So there has been a public outcry of how McDonald's curry sauce is no longer the same as before.

Now before you start freaking out, calm your tits; it tastes ALMOST the same as the previous curry sauce. Only the most discerning of tastebuds would be able to tell the difference (the rest is psychological, maybe due to the change in packaging and/or the sudden interest in scrutinising the ingredients).


I have one surviving curry sauce (of the previous variant), so I took the plunge (no pun intended) to do a comparison.

Ingredients
Just read it off the picture above, please.

Appearance
The older variant has a deeper brown, with higher concentration of 'red bits'. In comparison, the new one is lighter in colour, and has a slightly more watery consistency.

Taste
The former tastes a little more spicy, has a bit more tang to it, while the current one has a faint soy taste, and is perhaps a little blander.

The bottomline
Unless you taste both sauces side-by-side, you probably wouldn't notice the difference, just like you won't really notice the difference between a Samsung and a Sony TV till you put them side-by-side. Even if you do notice the difference, you'll eventually get used to it. Honestly, it's not too bad. But of course, spicy is always preferred, and I'm all for the good old curry sauce.
