London : Fish & Chips @ Rock and Sole

Rock and Sole - Interior

London, United Kingdom.
Rock and Sole claimed to serve one of the most famous Fish and Chips in London. Having passed by it a few times, I decided to try it out. The Sit-in prices are really scary. Takeaways are at least 25% cheaper.

Nonetheless, we decided to sit in as my younger brother needs to rest from all the walking. We had a large Cod Fish and Chips (16.00 GBP) to share. The portions are generous. It was much better than Munchkins but nothing near a “wow”.

The batter was drenched in oil. The interior is moist and tender but there is this oily and fired aftertaste that marred the dining experience.

They also served tartare sauce with it. The chips are just so-so and lacks seasoning.

Rock and Sole - Sticky Toffee with Custard Sauce

The dish that is surprisingly enjoyable here is their Sticky Toffee with Custard (8.00 GBP). This sinful dessert is a godsend. The moist, warm sticky toffee goes very well with the sweet custard sauce. It was a satisfying snack that you would like to have while watching your favourite soap opera or movie.

Service was good though, the people there are very candid and rather friendly.
Would I come again? Probably not (unless it’s for the Sticky Toffee), their Fish and Chips is clearly one of the contenders for the highest priced Fish and Chips in London.
