Smart Choice @ Pizza Hut

Pizza Hut - Condiments

26th April 2010. Written by Xin Li.

Pizza Hut has been around for a long time already, and it has joined the ranks of the household names with Swensens, MacDonalds, Burger King, Delifrance etc.

In my whole life I have only dine in Pizza Hut less than five times because we always have the perception that the food at Pizza Hut is expensive and the waiting time was long. I have the chance to eat at Pizza Hut again due to a company function.

They have an ongoing promotion, the Smart Choice Lunch Set for $7.90 where you get a soup of the day, a main course and a glass of soft drink, coffee or tea. I took the lunch set.

Pizza Hut - Hawaiian Pizza

Hawaiian - "An all-time favourite of succulent chicken ham and juicy pineapple chunks."

The soup of the day was a Vegetable in Chicken Stock Soup. I like celery and carrots in my soup so I was alright with it. However, the soup had a very heavy dosage of pepper otherwise it was a very simple and hearty soup. Go easy on the pepper please.

For my main course, I opted for the Trio Cheese Pizza. Four regular sized-slices nicely cut for you and served in a pan. The pizza was alright, if you are a fan for thin crust pizzas. This is certainly not something for you. The crust was thick and inside, it has the texture of bread the outer layer was slightly hard but not crispy. As for the trio of cheese, I couldn’t differentiate all the cheeses, the mozzarella cheese seemed to dominate the rest.

Pizza Hut - Trio Cheese

Trio Cheese - "A triple hit combo of mozzarella, parmesan and cheddar cheese with herbs."

After the main course, a cup of Lipton English Breakfast Tea was being served, milk wasn’t provided but you could request.

The service was alright. Sometimes the staff could be a little forgetful but attitude wise still positive, the glasses of water were being refilled once in a while and used plates were being removed without prompting.

The Bishan outlet is rather cramped. At our table, once the table behind us was occupied, the pathway was being blocked off by chairs, making it impossible for waiters and patrons alike to move around.

Pizza Hut - Crunchy Cheesy Bites Pizza

My colleagues had the Crunchy Cheesy Bites Pizza Fiesta Set which they said it was good ($48.90 for 4-6pax). It came with a cheese dip which they seemed to enjoy thoroughly even with the Mexican drumlet.

All in all, it is average, if you want some snacks you could drop by. Pricing wise, the ala carte items doesn’t seemed cheap to me, it is the Swensens kind of price range. You might want to go for the promotions instead.

But they do have great pasta and baked rice. I love their appetizers and side dish more than pizza. LOL

  2. Heh but paradise for cheese lovers. I heard about their pastas and baked rice, didn't order them because i thought pizzas should be their forte, kind of odd for the pastas to fare better haha.
