Singapore's First (Yes, First) Coffee Festival!

After the spectacular mess that event and PR company Tell Great Little Stories made during the Café Festival in 2014, they became a great little (cautionary) story that scorned VIP-ticket holders tell. The mess was so epic that that was the first and only Cafe Festival that happened. Even the official site is taken down.

Two years on, we have a same same but different festival.

Singapore’s first (it’s a coffee, not cafe, festival, mind you) coffee festival is, thankfully, not brought to you by TGLS, but by DBS and The Straits Times. With over a hundred exhibitors, you’ll definitely get your money’s worth with this festival.

With big names like Chye Seng Huat Hardware, Common Man Coffee Roasters and Killiney, and smaller outfits like Smitten and The Pourover Bar, you’ll definitely find a cuppa java of your liking.

If coffee is not your cup of tea, there’s still tea, chocolate, juice, cocktail, and beer. And unicorn tears.

Of course, Man cannot live on coffee alone. Cafés and restaurants offer dough with your joe. Tuck into pastries from Antoinette and Paul, or go hearty on pub grub from Hungry Heroes and Symmetry.

There are also some interesting gems waiting to be discovered. Munch on salted egg yolk potato chips from The Golden Duck Singapore or bring home some nuts and granola from Amazing Graze.

Singapore Coffee Festival seems to be a much better organised affair, with clearly demarcated areas and a rather linear layout. The air-conditioning also helps to keep patrons (and tempers) cool. There’s limited seating though, so be prepared to be standing around. But at least this time there won't be screaming customers, we think.

So go ahead, buy that VIP ticket.
